We welcome applications from agents and individual families who wish to make an application direct to the School. International applications can be made in six easy steps.
Step 1: Registration
The first step is to complete the Registration Form and return it to us, together with copies of the pupil’s last two school reports (translated in to English), a handwritten personal statement by the child and a copy of their passport.
Step 2: Entrance tests
Candidates will then sit our Entrance tests in English and Mathematics. These tests must be taken under strict standards of supervision at the pupil’s present school, or at the agency, or at Giggleswick during a visit to the School.
Step 3: Visit or interview
We encourage families to visit the school for interview if at all possible and pupils may stay overnight to get a better feel for boarding life at Giggleswick. However, if a visit is not possible, a Skype interview with a senior member of staff may be required. Each year we make visits to the Far East, the Middle East and Europe, and if a candidate's application coincides with our trip, they can be interviewed in their own country.
Step 4: Offer of a place
Once a pupil’s academic performance has been assessed, an offer of a place can be made. Acceptance of the place should be made within 3 weeks of the date of the offer letter. Payment of the registration fee and appropriate deposit is required to secure the place.
Step 5: Joining information
Information about joining the school is sent out in June or July ready for a September start.
Step 6: VISA application
International students from outside the UK or EU must apply for a UKVI Tier 4 Student visa. Giggleswick School is a licensed UKVI Tier 4 Sponsor. A Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies (CAS) to support visa applications will be issued for pupils once we have received a formal acceptance of the offer of a place, together with the deposit payment.
