Commonwealth medallist to coach sports course

Commonwealth Games bronze medallist Jamie Quarry is bringing his expertise to our athletics camp set to run during the Easter holidays.

 

Jamie, who podiumed for Scotland in the decathlon in the Manchester games in 2002, and is an experienced coach and PE teacher, will lead the athletics course for children aged 11-15 from April 3-5.

 

The athletics camp for boys and girls of all abilities will look at fundamental aspects of running, jumping and throwing alongside a more detailed analysis of core strength, balance and co-ordination. It is open to pupils and non-pupils the School.

 

Jamie, who also took part in the decathlon in the Commonwealth Games in 1994 and 1998, and is a former bobsleigh international, said: “The course is the perfect taster and foundation, or a further development of existing skills. It will benefit all sports and help young athletes realise their potential.”

 

Other interests are also catered for as we have three additional courses on offer. Cooking and crafts will run from April 3-5 and golf academy with Nick Barron, Bentham Golf Club’s professional, is from April 10-12. Also on from April 10-12 is cricket academy.
