Giggleswick accepts pupils onto both A-level of BTEC courses. You will be aware that GCSEs are being regraded this year, using a new numerical grading system.
In the past we have expected entrants for A-levels to have a B grade profile in at least six subjects. Under the new grading system we will expect at least a grade 5 profile in six subjects. Individual courses will stipulate a minimum requirement and some will expect at least a grade 6 and some a grade 7. Where GCSE/IGCSE criteria are narrowly missed, we will consider individual cases on merit and may offer a degree of flexibility.
For students who are not expected to meet the grade 5 profile average, or those preferring a more coursework-based programme of study, we offer a combination of a BTEC Level 3 Diploma plus an A-level. For those taking a BTEC course we expect 4 GCSEs of grade 4 and above. If you are considering doing a BTEC alongside an A-level, you will need to meet the subject requirement for the A-level course.
For international students, or those who have not taken GCSE/IGCSE, offers are made based on an interview where possible, on school report and on English and Maths tests.
