Euan Brennan (Y11) represented England and finished 5th in the Under 19s European Mountain Running Youth Cup.
55 athletes, representing 15 countries from around Europe and the USA took part in the event held in Gagliano del Capo in Southern Italy on Saturday 24th June. The steep 5.2 km course was technical, rocky & undulating, whilst temperatures in excess of 35 degrees made for extremely difficult running conditions.
Euan, representing a four-strong England team, said “The temperatures made it really challenging, the terrain was steep and rocky and the narrow course meant you had to be aggressive when overtaking. But it was a fantastic experience and made great practice for upcoming events.”
Euan, one of the younger runners in the category, was the first England runner back after being selected to represent his country following victory in the U19 England selection race at Hutton Roof in May. He has now set his sights on Septembers Home International where he will try his best to become British Champion.
