George Collins (L6) has made it into the final of the Pendle Young Musicians Bursary competition. The competition was set up in 2012 to give young musicians a chance of gaining substantial funding to help them continue their musical studies and this year the prize fund available is £18,000.
George initially submitted a video audition and was then one of ten people who were chosen to perform at a concert at Colne Municipal Theatre. He performed a guitar recital and was then interviewed by a panel of judges who have put him and three others through to the final where they will all get a share of the prize money to further their education. They will also receive musical guidance and number of opportunities, including the chance to work with Manchester Camerata.
George, the youngest competitor, faced tough competition to get to the final, many of whom are studying at conservatoires and universities.
We wish him the best of luck in the final, which will take place on 30th June at Colne Municipal Theatre.
