Getting Here

The Richard Whiteley Theatre is easily accessible by Road and Public Transport. The village of Giggleswick is a mile from the market town of Settle, easily accessible from the A65 which runs from Leeds to Kendal. For Sat Nav users our Post Code is BD24 0DE.

 

The theatre is located within the main school campus with various parking areas available. Giggleswick & Settle are served by public transport until 21:00 daily.

By car

Accordion From Scotland and Cumbria
  • Follow the A74(M) and M6 south towards Kendal.
  • At Junction 36 join the A65, signposted Skipton.
  • Follow the A65 some 18 miles, past Kirby Lonsdale, Ingleton & Clapham. Pass the Yorkshire Dales Falconry Centre on the right.
  • 400 yards further take the LEFT turn signposted Giggleswick & Settle. You will see a golf course on the right, and immediately after that there is a junction signposted Giggleswick School.
  • The school will appear on both sides of the road some 200 yards along. The Junior School is on the left, the main entrance to the Senior School is on the right. This road is narrow and winding. Take this right turn which rises steeply through the gateway. The RW Theatre is in the far left hand corner of the car park.
Accordion From Leeds
  • Follow the A65 to Settle.
  • Pass under the railway bridge and take the first exit signposted Kendal, this is the Settle by-pass (still the A65). Take the first RIGHT turn signposted Giggleswick. Follow this road to the crossroads, go straight across into Raines Road. ‘Eshtons’ playing fields will appear on the left. Carry on to the T Junction and turn left.
  • After 50 yards fork left up a hill. The school lies in front of you and the entrance is the FIRST right.
  • The main car park is on the left. The RW Theatre is in the far left hand corner of the car park.
Accordion From Manchester
  • Join the M60 Eastbound.
  • At J18 join the M66.
  • Follow the M66 to the A56 and continue on to join the M65 at J8.
  • Follow the M65 to J13 and join the A682. Follow this road to Gisburn.
  • On arrival in Gisburn turn right and then immediate left at the mini roundabout and continue on the A682 to Long Preston. On arrival in Long Preston turn left onto the A65 and follow this road for 5 miles. As you pass under the railway bridge you will meet a the large roundabout on the outskirts of Settle take the 1st exit onto the Settle bypass (A65).
  • Take the first RIGHT turn signposted Giggleswick. Follow this road to the crossroads, go straight across into Raines Road. ‘Eshtons’ playing fields are on the left. Carry on to the T Junction and turn left.

By rail

Settle & Giggleswick stations are reached from Carlisle/Leeds & Morecambe/Leeds respectively along with stations in between. Connections from these stations are available to all corners of UK and Internationally with Eurostar. By bus

The No 11 bus service operates from Horton in Ribblesdale to Tosside via Settle. 

 

Kirkby Lonsdale Coaches operate the 581 bus service from Kirkby Lonsdale to Settle stopping in both Giggleswick & Settle. This service calls at all villages in between and details can be found here*

Walking In The Dales

The Yorkshire Dales is a fabulous place to go walking whether you are looking for a gentle stroll besides one of the many rivers, or you are looking for a hike on a wild and empty moorland. If you find walking a challenge or your group includes a wheelchair or buggy then don’t be put off there will be something for you! If your navigation is not up to scratch or you are not a confident walker, you can always join a guided walk or take one of the suggested short walks which are based around village centres.
