For the first time in 10 years, the Yorkshire Dinner was back by popular demand in Settle, bringing together our locally based OGs, parents, staff and friends of the school for drinks and dinner at the Falcon Manor on the edge of the town. It was wonderful to see so many old faces and new catching up on news, sharing memories and getting up to speed with all the new developments at school. Among the guests were seven decades of Old Giggleswickians who were leavers from 1951 to 2015.
Speeches and toasts were given by the current OG President Mr Richard Warburton and The Headmaster, Mark Turnbull.
Richard spoke about the importance of community at Giggleswick and was delighted to see everyone including Old Giggleswickians, Young Giggleswickians, parents, staff and pupils all present at the event. Mr Turnbull proposed the toast to the OG Club and acknowledged the amazing work of the staff at school to enhance the holistic experience of the boys and girls. He also outlined the exciting new developments and vision for the school including the multi million pound investment in boarding facilities and the recent launch of the new fitness centre by world champion triathlete Jonny Brownlee.
