We officially launched our new pre-school, Mill House, on Bank Holiday Monday with a special event open to all. Families came from across the local area to join the celebrations, which included a popular art workshop with local children’s illustrator and author, Stephen Waterhouse. Another highlight was the song performed by a number of our current Mill House and Reception pupils before the official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony by Mr Waterhouse.
Manager of Mill House, Carl Shuttleworth, said “Although we've only been in our wonderful new setting for a week, it is already feeling like home, which is exactly what we have tried to achieve here at Mill House. It was wonderful to have our current parents involved and sharing their experiences with our visiting families, and they all commented on the warm welcoming atmosphere within Mill House, and the homely environment we have created.”
The pre-school is based in its own newly renovated building next to the Junior School and an extensive refurbishment programme has created a unique development of indoor and outdoor learning spaces, purpose-built for two, three and four-year-olds. Mill House offers a flexible range of session options with wrap-around care available, starting from 7.30am with an ‘Early Risers’ breakfast club and an extended afternoon package including tea allowing for pick-ups through until 6pm. Parents can also use their government-provided free childcare entitlement, which includes 15 hours for two-year olds and up to 30 hours for three and four-year olds.
Giggleswick’s director of external relations, Jane Paul, said “We were delighted to see so many families coming to look round Mill House and see the pre-school in action. Anyone who missed the open afternoon is very welcome to come and look round by appointment – places are available and please contact 01729 893000 to find out more and book a visit."
