We are getting ready for the grand opening of our new pre-school on Bank Holiday Monday 6 May.
Mill House Pre-school is based in its own newly renovated building next to the Junior School within our 200-acre campus. Over the last three months an extensive refurbishment programme has created a unique development of indoor and outdoor learning spaces, purpose-built for two, three and four-year-olds. With three open plan teaching rooms, a sensory/sleep room and a forest school, it can cater for up to 24 three and four-year-olds and four two to three-year-olds in any one session.
Local young families will have access to a flexible range of session options with wrap-around care available, starting from 7.30am with an ‘Early Risers’ breakfast club and an extended afternoon package including tea allowing for pick-up’s through until 6.00pm for busy working families. Parents can also use their government-provided free childcare entitlement, which includes 15 hours entitlement for two-year olds and up to 30 hours for three and four-year olds.
Early years specialist Carl Shuttleworth, who will lead the pre-school, supported by early years practitioners and teachers from the Junior School, said “We are really excited to welcome the children to Mill House where we will be offering a truly unique learning experience that balances play-based activities with an academic curriculum and makes the most of our wonderful location and facilities.
“There will be ballet, welly walks, forest school and swimming plus sessions with specialist music teachers, French linguists and dance specialists. We also have access to the entire campus, including Giggleswick’s sports facilities, swimming pool, theatre and chapel.”
All families in the area are invited along to the launch and look around the new pre-school and its amazing setting. At the same time, we are holding an Open Afternoon for the whole school as it’s an ideal opportunity to see the school in action and meet with staff, pupils and parents, Mill House is hosting an art workshop open to all from 1pm with children’s illustrator and author, Stephen Waterhouse. The opening ceremony is at 2pm and the Open Afternoon continues until 4.30pm.
