Thanks to the generous legacy of an Old Giggleswickian, we are excited to announce the launch of the Morphet Sixth Form Scholarship Programme, which provides a wonderful opportunity for talented Year 11 pupils at local maintained schools to obtain a full or part-funded sixth form academic scholarship for two years at Giggleswick.
At Giggleswick, we have always offered a range of scholarships for students entering the sixth form which include an element of fee support, but our Morphet Scholarships can now provide fully funded places as well as part funded places for a select number of students.
Headmaster Mark Turnbull said “James Morphet was keen to ensure that his legacy supported local children, just as the school’s founder James Carr worked so hard to achieve. This scholarship ensures that even more talented young people are now able to join us on the basis of their ability and potential, removing the financial barriers that would otherwise stand in their way.
Applications are now open for September 2019 entry. Candidates should be working towards a GCSE grade average of more than seven with grade eight and above predicted in their A level choice of subjects and wish to attend a Russell Group university. We will also be looking for evidence of a willingness to participate fully in the wider aspects of the school, such as sport, music, debating and drama.”
Applications from children in receipt of the pupil premium – additional funding designed to help disadvantaged pupils of all abilities perform better and close the gap between them and their peers - are particularly encouraged.
Further information and application details are available on our website here and any interested candidates can find out more at our Sixth Form Open Morning on Saturday 17 November.
