Giggleswick School has a long tradition of providing Outdoor Pursuits for its pupils and we have now extended our provision to the wider public, offering a range of outdoor educational and recreational courses for all ages and abilities as well as instructor training and qualifications.
Perfectly located on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, Giggleswick is surrounded by the best of the region’s natural resources including hills, peaks, crags, caves and rivers, not forgetting the famous Yorkshire Three Peaks of Ingleborough, Pen-y-Ghent and Whernside. The area also boasts some of the best rock climbing and caving in the UK. Our on-site facilities include a gritstone crag, mountain bike track, orienteering course, swimming pool, climbing wall and shooting range.
Our high quality instructor training for teachers, scout leaders, guides and anyone looking to develop a career in outdoor activities include Hill and Moorland Leader Training, Lowland Leader Training and National Navigation Award Scheme Awards.
We also offer skills courses and outdoor activities for individuals, groups and organisations, working with schools, colleges, businesses, charities, clubs and societies. Activities available include hill and mountain climbing, rock climbing, abseiling, caving, fellrunning, orienteering, geo-caching, kayaking, canoeing, mountain biking, cycling, archery, shooting, team building, bushcraft and camping.
The school is inspected and approved by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALS license), is a Duke of Edinburgh Award’s Scheme licensed organisation and an authorised provider of Hill and Mountain Training Skills and NNAS awards.
Our instructors are experts in their field; fully qualified and experienced in teaching a wide range of abilities. They are all CRB checked, first aid trained and passionate about what they do.
Our stunning location, extensive grounds with excellent facilities plus the proximity to quality outdoor venues makes Giggleswick School an excellent choice. Most activities can be catered for on-site and it’s only a very short journey to bigger crags, local bridleways, rivers and extensive cave networks for progression activities.
