Saturday 18 November 2017
Our Sixth Form Open Morning will be held on Saturday 18 November, 10.00am to 12pm. Families are welcome along to this popular information event to find out about sixth form life at Giggleswick and discuss A-level and BTEC subject choices.
This is an excellent opportunity to hear about our unique academic, co-curricular and super-curricular programme, which has been developed with real insight from universities and employers on qualities they value to ensure success. It is also a chance to meet with our sixth form teaching staff to discuss subject choices and get some useful early advice on planning for university entry and future careers.
“One thing we are very proud of here at Giggleswick is that around 95% of pupils get the subject choices they want for A-level. Young people don’t have to compromise one subject they love simply because the timetable doesn’t work out in their favour” explains Anna Wood, Assistant Head, Academic. “Our sixth form programme encourages students to explore their subjects beyond the taught curriculum, developing their critical thinking, reflection and analysis skills. There’s also a real focus on leadership, communication and life skills to properly prepare our students for life beyond school.”
This summer, our A-level students celebrated the highest number of A* grades ever, together with a 100% pass rate and more Oxbridge success. 70% of candidates achieved A*-B A-level and BTEC equivalent grades, and secured first choice places at top universities including Oxford, St Andrews, Durham, Warwick and Nottingham as well as specialist music, art and drama schools across the UK.
We offer a number of scholarship opportunities for lower sixth students with particular talents in sport, art, music, design, drama and/or in their academic study. More information will be available at the Open Morning along with details on our day, flexi (3 or 5 nights) and full boarding options and eight daily minibus services, making Giggleswick accessible to all families in the Yorkshire region.
