Only the country's finest independent schools make it into the Tatler's Schools Guide and we are delighted to be included again this year. The guide is renowned for giving the 'inside track' on schools, with a team of 'super-sleuths' who inspect the schools inside out with a visit to the school and interviews with the Head, parents and pupils.
If you haven't already seen it, here's what Tatler said about Giggleswick:
"Not many pupils return from a school trip having made their own record, but one Giggleswick boy did. The CCF expedition to South Africa featured a five-day canoe trip down the Tugela River and a night round the campfire with Zulu reggae artist Ras D Bongs; one student then went on to join him in his Durban studio. Back home in the Yorkshire Dales, head Mark Turnbull is on the lookout for ‘curious learners’. Music and drama are ace; a sell-out production of Les Misérables drew critical acclaim; and on the field there’s county representation in rugby, hockey, fell running, cross country, athletics and climbing, and a new equestrian team (BTEC PE is a popular sixth-form option). Last year we reported Giggs’ best ever A-level results; now they’ve trumped their own record, posting an even higher 68 per cent A*–B. Keep it up, Mr T. Around 60 per cent board (day pupils get their own bed too), and a mother emails to report that staff are particularly hot on niggling tween issues. Day pupils hail from a regional catchment area of Harrogate, Leeds and Bradford – with a smattering of internationals too. And, true to Yorkshire form, there’s not an ounce of snobbery here: Mr Turnbull tells us: ‘Giggleswick is the most down-to-earth school I’ve ever come across."
