The Ultra and Trail Running Festival is the first of its kind in the UK, bringing together an impressive line-up of renowned speakers and experts for an educational and ‘hands on’ weekend of talks, practical workshops, advice and guided runs in the spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park.
Whether you are a seasoned runner or an enthusiast eager to find out more, this weekend will help take your running to a new level and make new connections in the ultra and trail running communities.
The event is hosted by Giggleswick Outdoor Pursuits, a commercial outdoor activity centre based at Giggleswick School, North Yorkshire. Residential options are available.

A choice of guided runs over a range of distances through the spectacular landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales and Moors.
Wendy has run regularly over the fells with numerous English and British championship wins, favouring long races, including 3rd FV50 in the UTMB 2006. A sports physician for over 30 years and Team GB Doctor, amongst her other achievements are two Dragon’s Backs, Paddy Buckley Round, Bob Graham Round and Ramsey Round.
Rebecca Dent is a high performance dietician with over 16 years of experience working in both clinical practice and within sport, ranging from the recreational participant to elite world champion and Olympic athletes. Rebecca has a wealth of experience providing nutrition advice to participants taking part in ultra distance events including World Champion ultra runner, William Sichel.
An outdoor journalist, GB ultra runner and coach, Damian achieved fifth place in the 2018 UTMB, despite being older and slower than his pro rivals, a parent and not living near mountains. Come and find out how he did it.
Sarah is a former British and English fell running champion (twice) and silver medalist in the world mountain running championships. She previously came ninth in the UTMB and is still a regular in mountain marathons. She is author of ‘Off road running’ and co-author of ‘Trail and mountain running’.
Sponsored by Due North, Nicky Spinks has set women’s records for the major fell running challenges including the Ramsay Round, the Paddy Buckley Round and the Bob Graham Round. She is the holder of the overall record for the double Bob Graham Round. More recently, she was first lady in the 2018 Ultra Tour Monte Rosa.

Mel Steventon (Due North Events)
Due North host running events based in the North of England, providing coaching weekends; races and short breaks for runners & walkers. They cater for all abilities from 5k to Ultra and are aimed to improve knowledge, acquire skills and build confidence in an enjoyable way.
As a co-founders and Director of ‘Tracks and Trails’ her mission is quite simply to provide adventures for those who wish to enjoy the mountains in whatever form and by whatever means, be it, running, walking, snowshoeing, cross country skiing or biking.
On Saturday evening we will be screening the film ‘Underdog’ by Summit Fever Media. Follow Damian Hall's journey as he strives to achieve a top 10 podium place in the UTMB 2018.
