Applying to Giggleswick School

Giggleswick School has a selective admissions policy and is happy to consider applications from any child, regardless of disability, colour, creed or race so long as other entrance criteria are met.
admission_Boarding_Day2Pupils with specific learning disabilities may be accepted provided that the school is able to offer the level of specialist and general assistance required. There may be a charge for learning support.

registration form can be downloaded here.  Please note that completed registration forms should be accompanied by a £150 non-refundable registration fee.  On acceptance of a place an entry deposit of £500 (EU) or half a term's boarding fee (non-EU) is required.  This amount is refunded, minus any accrued sundries, at the end of the student's career at Giggleswick.

The main entry points to the Senior School are Year 7, Year 9 and Lower Sixth, but we are happy to consider pupils for entry into Years 8 and 10 (please contact the Registrar for further information).

Year 7 and Year 9 entry

Pupils entering Year 7 are normally required to sit Giggleswick’s own entrance examination in the January of the year prior to entry.

Pupils entering Year 9 from preparatory schools are expected to sit the Common Entrance Examination in the term before entry.  Pupils from other schools (maintained sector, overseas) will be required to sit tests in English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning in addition to providing copies of their previous School reports.

Sixth Form

For those wishing to join the Sixth Form, there is a minimum entry requirement of 5 GCSE passes at B grade; however it is possible to take some AS levels, for example Business Studies, Economics, Design, without having a GCSE in the subject.  Pupils who do not have a GCSE background are assessed through interview, an essay and a report from their present school.  Evidence of an appropriate level of English is required for applicants from Overseas.
