Unless you live a long way away, boarding does not mean that you don't see your children for weeks at a time. We encourage parents of boarders to come and see their children, at matches on Saturday afternoons, on Sundays, at concerts or at plays. outside of lesson time of course. Communication with home is easy - by email or mobile phone - and when your children are at home, the whole family benefits from quality time, with both adults and children appreciating the other more.As a School, we try to keep you in touch with what's going on. Our Parents' Web allows you access to your childrens personal timetables, their monthly assessment grades and even their detention records! It gives weekly sports results and short match reports, and information about recent school events.
However, we recognise that boarding does not suit every child, and that some families prefer day school. We also know that some children begin as day pupils (or day boarders, as they are known at Giggleswick) and then choose to board later and as, at Giggleswick, day and boarding pupils are completely integrated into the same boarding House system, this does not cause any problem at all. Day boarders may also stay overnight occasionally in their House for a small charge.
