Current Priorities

Giggleswick has been fortunate in recent years to have benefited from several generous gifts which have been invested in £13m of new facilities.

These developments are only the beginning.  Over the next decade the School plans to invest even more in theatre, sport, sixth form, music, boarding accommodation.

The Governors are committed to building on the level of investment in the fabric of the School and the diversity of its pupils.  They have identified the following areas as priorities for the Foundation to support over the next five years.

Bursaries

Governors are committed to investing in scholarships and bursaries.  In the future the Foundation hopes to raise significant funds to grow this important strength of the School.  Gifts from friends, OGs and parents allow Giggleswick to provide assistance towards the education of talented boys and girls from lower income families.  In 2007 this investment helped over 40% of our pupils to receive bursary or scholarship support worth in the region of three quarters of a million pounds.

Capital Projects

Giggleswick must continually invest in its facilities to remain at the forefront of independent education.  To meet and exceed the high expectations of our parents and pupils the Governors have identified a number of projects that they see as crucial to the long-term future of the School.    Building on the success of the Richard Whiteley Theatre Campaign the Foundation will announce its next capital project in the 2011/12 academic year.

Annual Fund 2010/11

Relatively small amounts of money can transform the experience of talented young people at Giggleswick School.  The 2010/11 Annual Fund will help us to provide new opportunities for the children in our care by providing bursaries and new facilities for school and community use.

Bursaries are an important part of the Annual Fund and with your support we will be able to give more young people the opportunity of a Giggleswick education.

In the Junior School we are working with the GJSPA to develop the performing arts facilities in the Catteral Pavilion. We would like to install new sound and lighting equipment to develop the space as a performance venue.

Sports are key to the life of the School and as Giggleswick grows and develops we need your help to invest in more high quality facilities.  Money raised as part of the annual fund will help to pay for better drainage and a new playing surface for the Riverside pitches.

We are also seeking to raise funds to provide bursaries for the 2012 Sport and Music tour to Australia.  Our aim is to enable the Director of Sport and Director of Music be able to select the pupils for the tour on the basis of what they will get out of representing the School, not on their ability to pay.  As part of this fundraising every pupil who goes on the tour will be asked to help in the fundraising.
