D of E Award Scheme

D of E

It’s fun, it’s challenging, it’s different.

Giggleswick encourages participation in the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Scheme. Following the Giggleswick Outdoor Pursuits certificate, which is part of the Year 9 curriculum, and which covers the expedition element of the Bronze award, pupils can opt to either complete the Bronze award or go directly onto Silver and then Gold.

There are many different and valuable aspects of the Award: service to the school and local community, learning a wide variety of physical skills, undertaking an overnight expedition, as well as gaining an extra qualification which is highly regarded by universities and employers
