Although Giggleswick is essentially a boarding school, we welcome day pupils (known as day boarders) who wish to take advantage of all that a boarding school has to offer, whilst still living at home.
Day boarders arrive in time for registration in House at 8.05 am and are normally expected to stay at school until after prep finishes at 7.00 pm (Yrs 7 & 8) and 8.15 pm (Yr 9 - U6) on weekdays, and until 4.30 pm on Saturdays. Permission to leave early can be given if a day boarder is involved in a specific activity off site.
All day boarders are members of one of the seven Houses and day and boarding pupils are fully integrated in House life. Day boarders have a single or shared study within their House, with wardrobe, drawers and storage space for clothes and personal belongings. Most will even have a bed, which they can use on the odd occasions they either need, or wish, to stay the night.
Approximately 40% of Giggleswick Senior School pupils are day boarders.
