After settling in to their new surroundings, pupils from overseas, for whom English is an additional language, are assessed to establish their level of functional English.
All age groups are offered extra private lessons of 1 - 2 per week, where appropriate. There is a charge for individual lessons.
According to ability, some students will sit for GCSE English in Year 11. Alternatively students attend Advanced English lessons in Year 11.
Students wishing to continue their studies to gain entrance to an English-medium university, are required to sit the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test. Classes for this are provided throughout the Lower and Upper Sixth Form.
