Sunday 3 June to Saturday 7 July 2018
Our Senior School Immersion Programme is an exciting opportunity for up to eight international students (aged 12 to 15) to join Giggleswick Senior School for five weeks at the end of our Summer Term. The students are immersed in English school life and learning from day one, with plenty of opportunity to practice and improve their spoken and written English throughout their stay.
Be a Giggleswick pupil
This is a unique opportunity to be a Giggleswick pupil for five weeks of the Summer Term! Students will join the school when our pupils return after half term holiday in June for their final five weeks at school. You will live in one of our boarding houses with other Giggleswick pupils, join lessons with them and get to take part in a wide range of clubs, activities, trips and visits too.
Join in with lessons
Our international students will join lessons as part of the normal school timetable, working with Giggleswick pupils both in class and during Prep (homework time) during each day. It is a great way to improve their English and get a new perspective on a subject to help their learning.
First class English teaching
As well the normal timetable of lessons, each child will have a regular programme of intensive English Language lessons each week. Lessons are provided by our own highly experienced teaching staff who are fully qualified to teach English as a foreign language.
Experience UK life and culture
The immersion programme is not just a study trip but a cultural experience, giving students the opportunity to take part in an extensive range of activities, trips and excursions outside the classroom. In school, students have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sports, outdoor pursuits, music, drama and art clubs. There is also a programme of trips and excursions each weekend for children to explore the area and further experience British culture.
Live in a school boarding house
Students will live in one of our seven boarding houses, which provide a warm and welcoming home away from home for all our pupils with a strong family feel across the whole school. Over 60% of pupils are full or flexi boarders. Boarding life is an enriching and rewarding experience, providing pupils with extra time and space to explore the amazing range of activities available at the school, develop independence and grow as an individual.
Extended stay opportunities
Our 5 week immersion programme ends on Saturday 7 July, but students can choose to extend their stay by joining our International Summer School starting on Sunday 8 July. Flexible stay options are available, allowing children to join us for just one extra week or up to seven weeks over the summer holidays. Our summer programme now includes two "Best of Britain" tour options.
