24 schools participated in the annual Catteral Shield Cross Country race with 310 runners spread over four races and well over 100 visiting adults.  A great many of our pupils, particularly Y6 - 8 did important jobs, looking after our guests and marshalling the course and a band of Sixth Formers did a great job marshalling the traffic.  We also had three Hares to lead the runners around the course.  The course was wet, muddy and in parts quite slippery and posed a genuine challenge to all competitors, but they all ran very well and the dry afternoon helped provide a good spectacle.

Afterwards everyone enjoyed a good Giggleswick match tea while watching themselves run again, this time courtesy of the IT department who had collated some 800 photos from the afternoon and projected a slide show on to the Dining Hall wall.  Finally, presentations were made to winning teams and the top three finishers from the four races.

GJS and Giggleswick Senior School had runners in all four races and gave a good account of themselves -
