Years 1 and 2

In KS1 we aim to offer the children a broad and creative curriculum that allows us to make the most of our extended day and access our excellent facilities.academic_year12-left-portrait

The curriculum has key skills in literacy and numeracy at its core, with daily lessons in each.  This is enhanced by exciting child-centered topics that encompass science, humanities, art and design, music and drama. From the onset of this key stage children are encouraged to have ownership of their learning and to share ideas and skills with each other.

We have regular ‘out and about’ sessions that give the children the opportunity to explore our school grounds, the local area and wider a field with trips to the coast, castles and museums all of which broaden the children’s learning experiences.

French, PE, RE and music are taught weekly by specialist staff, who work closely with the class teacher to extend opportunities for learning across the curriculum.
