Learning Support

The Learning Support department currently has one full time and five peripatetic teachers working across the Senior and the Junior School.

We see specific learning difficulties as a different way of learning - not simply a set of difficulties. At the same time as helping students to improve on their weaker areas, we emphasise their strengths and celebrate their successes - whether academic, sporting, in art and design or in drama and music. We help students to develop successful strategies, which work for them.

This school follows the guidelines and recommendations as specified in the Code of Practice for the monitoring and assessment of pupils with Special Educational Needs. This guidance has been updated in light of the new Code, and SENDA.

We support students to suit their individual needs. This may be a structured multisensory teaching programme, but could also be through curriculum support, by teaching study skills, organisation, and revision skills. We also offer curriculum support or specific English teaching to students for whom English is an additional language.  There is a charge for individual lessons.
