Some of the biggest changes in the School have only happened because of gifts left in legacies. Norman Sharpe OG left over £1m in his will to the School. His gift enabled the creation of the Sharpe Library. This state-of-the-art library has transformed the experiences of hundreds of our pupils.
You don’t have to leave the School a million to make a real difference. Smaller gifts have helped us provide bursaries, musical instruments, and better facilities across the School.
If you decide to leave a legacy, it is essential that your will is legally drawn up, and correctly witnessed. Unless your affairs are very straightforward, it is best to consult a solicitor rather than try to do it by yourself. If you prepare thoroughly and collect all the relevant information, seeing a solicitor need not be too expensive. Solicitors generally charge by the hour - so the better prepared you are, the less money you will need to spend.
To help with you with this, the Foundation has prepared an easy to follow Guide to making or ammending your will. You might also want to look at some suggested wording.
If you would like to let us know if you are considering leaving a legacy to Giggleswick School, or have already done so, please complete our legacy pledge form. Letting us know about your gift means we can thank you, and discuss how you would like us to use your gift in the future.
You can speak, in confidence, to Andrew Beales, Foundation Director, regarding any aspect of leaving a legacy in your will. Although he is not legally trained, he has experience in legacy issues and will do her best to give you all the information you may need. Please contact Andrew on 01729 893 008.
Thank you for considering supporting Giggleswick School.
