We would be delighted to see you at one of our Open Events this year. Open Events are a wonderful opportunity for you to meet us, take a look at our impressive facilities and get involved in activities we have planned for you.
Our next Open Events are:
On Thursday 5 December we look forward to welcoming students and families along with our current pupils and their families to our Sixth Form Information Evening, which is an excellent opportunity to find out more about sixth form life at Giggleswick and discuss A level, Pre-U and BTEC subject choices.
Our teaching staff will be on hand to discuss the detail of each subject with you and talk about the enrichment we add to enhance the learning of each student both in the classroom and outside on trips, visits, talks, research projects and work experience. Our sixth form programme encourages students to explore their subjects beyond the taught curriculum, developing their critical thinking, reflection and analysis skills. There is also a real focus on leadership, communication and life skills to properly prepare our students for life beyond school.
During the evening there will be talks and presentations by the Headmaster, Mr Turnbull, as well as our Head of Sixth Form, Anne Coward and Deputy Head, Anthony Simpson. They will be able to tell you more about our unique academic, co-curricular and super-curricular programme, which has been developed with real insight from universities and employers on qualities they value to ensure success. This summer we continued our track record of A level success with 64% of grades at A*-B, alongside a 100% pass rate and more than half of our BTEC students achieving the top Double Distinction (D*D*) grade
Presentations start at 18:30 and if you would like to include a tour of the school with one of our sixth formers as part of your visit, we can organise this beforehand from 17:30.
