Bell’s History
In 1912 the School published a history of its first 400 years, written by one of the then Masters, Edward Allen Bell. This work, and its companion school register (published in 1913) has recently seen resurgence in popularity thanks to project Guttenberg, an online undertaking to produce free digital versions of out of copyright texts.
Copies of Bell’s history of Giggleswick School can be downloaded from the Project Guttenberg site
Future Plans
Local historian and OG Ian Roberts undertook to write a new history as part of our Giggleswick School Quincentenary Celebrations. His untimely death, early in 2011 has left this work as yet unfinished. The 2012 Committee are still working on the History Project and hope to publish both a new history and a companion register in time for the 460th Anniversary of the School Charter in 2013.
