Kyran Beadle (L6 S) was chosen to carry the CCF banner at the annual Festival of Remembrance last weekend.
Early last Friday I travelled down to the Royal Albert Hall with Mr Wharton in order to make it to the afternoon rehearsals for the show. On arrival the hall was a buzz of activity and, after a lot of waiting around whilst watching Katherine Jenkins and Alfie Boe rehearse, we finally were called forward for our rehearsal. It all went very well and the Garrison Sgt Major was happy. I didn’t realize how difficult it is to march down steps in time, carrying a banner and trying not to take the ceiling out as I came through the entrance!
Saturday morning came around, and it was here, the day of the show. We had one rehearsal in the morning and then we were straight into the show, the 2pm matinee performance went very well and filled me with confidence for the evening performance. Finally 7pm struck and, with Her Majesty the Queen seated in the Royal box, it was time to begin. The evening show felt even better than the afternoon show and everyone involved was relieved and tired but happy with the challenge that we had all overcome over the last few days. The whole weekend was a once in a life time experience and one that I never forget. Thank you to Mr Wharton for all the time and effort spent on making the weekend run smoothly and helping me to achieve something that will stick with me forever.
