A team of three travelled to Skipton for the Rotary Club's 'Youth Speaks Competition' and won all of the available silverware.
Ezz El Defrawi (U6 S), Joe Walters (L6 S) and Katie Harrison (L6 C) delivered a presentation entitled 'An Arab Spring ... or Winter?'. Katie took the role of chair, introducing the team and topic, Ezz was the main speaker and Joe proposed the vote of thanks.
Skipton Girls' provided strong competition with their presentation on the 'media portrayal of women', but the judges were unanimous in adjudicating Giggleswick's to be the best presentation. They were impressed with the way such a complex issue was tackled in such an articulate and measured way.
Ezz deserves special mention for the gravitas and authority with which he spoke and the clarity he brought to the subject.
Mr Giles commented, "It was a privilege to watch these three young people succeed in a formal, challenging arena, where intellect, learning and thought are prized."
