Sport is an integral part of Giggleswick life.
There is a full range of sports to cater for most interests. Main sports are Rugby, Girls’ Hockey and Cross Country in the Michaelmas Term, Rugby Sevens, Boys’ Hockey, Netball, Football (seniors only) and Cross Country in the Easter Term and Cricket, Tennis and Athletics in the Summer Term. Other sports offered are Badminton, Basketball, Fives, Golf, Swimming, Squash, Girls' Rugby, Rounders and Girls' Cricket.
Sports Clubs are also offered to give pupils of all ages access to new sports. Current clubs include Dance, Basketball, Swimming, Lifesaving, Fives, Indoor Cricket nets, Table Tennis, Mixed Hockey, Badminton, Squash and Speed training.
We have excellent sports facilities which include our floodlit all-weather pitch for hockey and football, six hard and four grass tennis courts, several rugby and football pitches, fives and squash courts, cricket squares and our spectacularly located 1st XI cricket pitch. We have a new £1.5 million sports hall which caters for various indoor sports, including cricket (4 nets), badminton, basketball, indoor tennis and football, a dance area, an indoor swimming pool and fitness centre.
We offer a full fixture list for all major sports, regular sports tours and each year a number of pupils are selected to represent the district and county in a variety of sports. Pupils are also encouraged to follow courses in coaching, umpiring/refereering and related sports awards.
