Our Aims

Our aims are to:

•Put children’s wellbeing and learning at the heart of all that we do.

•Deliver the highest of educational standards across an engaging and broad curriculum, allowing all pupils to shape their chosen pathway for the future.

•Support every child in all the ways that we can to achieve their best outcomes.

•Encourage every child to participate in the full breadth of the curriculum, however challenging this may seem.

•Build positive relationships across our own community and with the communities that we serve.

•Equip children with the character and skills to become lifelong learners.

•Welcome people of all faiths and backgrounds to a community based upon a Christian foundation.

Our Values

The School has five core values of Commitment, Courage, Curiosity, Compassion and Integrity.

Courage

We face challenges with resilience and take principled action, even in the face of uncertainty or adversity.

Compassion

We seek to serve our community by acting with empathy and respect and valuing the perspectives and wellbeing of others.

Commitment

We dedicate ourselves fully, maintaining focus and striving for excellence in all that we do.

Curiosity

We pursue knowledge with an open mind, driven by a desire to understand, discover, challenge and grow.

Integrity

We uphold strong moral principles and do what is right, even when it’s not easy or visible.

“Although the academics and school trips are great, that is not what sold it for us. The key thing is that Giggleswick allows children to grow into themselves, rather than forcing them into a mould.”Current Parent

Our Ethos

Our ethos is underpinned by our values of Commitment, Courage, Curiosity, Compassion and Integrity.

There are two strands by which we create the conditions for academic success. Firstly, we are dedicated to preserving an inclusive, safe, and grounded community in which all our pupils thrive. Our commitment to wellbeing underpins the development of excellence across the curriculum. This is complemented by an exciting and dynamic co-curricular programme, where the values, skills and confidence are nurtured to create the foundations for academic success.

Critically, our rich educational offering adds value to every pupil.

We believe that our boarding and extended day is central to providing children with opportunities to put these values into practice.

We believe that positive relationships between staff and pupils, and ongoing dialogue with parents are essential to building an open and trusting community. All children should feel able to approach any member of staff secure in the knowledge that everyone has the right to be treated as an individual and with respect by other pupils and staff.

We recognise that children should never be defined by the grades that they work towards achieving. A Giggleswick education aims to develop character traits that will serve pupils throughout their lives. We support every pupils in tailoring their pathway through the School to allow them to follow their ambitions beyond Giggleswick.

To achieve these aims we will:

  • involve all members of teaching staff in providing pastoral care at school
  • maintain good, ongoing communication between the pupil, home and school, which is central to providing excellent support for the wellbeing of every child
  • encourage pupils to give their views and develop leadership skills
  • promote wellbeing
  • offer a range of sources of advice
  • support pupils’ spiritual development
