1. Entry Points

Giggleswick welcomes pupils throughout the school year, with entry points in all year groups subject to availability. Here’s an overview of our typical admissions process based on entry year:

  • Prep School and Senior School: Entry is open for any year group, as long as places are available. For Year 7 and Year 9, we invite pupils who are not already enrolled to take an entrance assessment, attend an interview, and provide references from their current school.
  • Year 12 (Sixth Form): For pupils entering Year 12, admission is based on entrance assessment, school reports, predicted GCSE grades, and references.

2. Attend an Open Day or Arrange a Visit

The best way to experience Giggleswick is to see it in action! Visiting our beautiful campus gives families a real insight into daily life here, from our vibrant classrooms to our beautiful outdoor spaces.

  • Open Days: Our Open Days provide a welcoming introduction to Giggleswick and are a great opportunity to meet our teachers, pupils, and current families. Register for an Open Event here
  • Individual Visit: Can’t make an Open Day? Arrange a personal tour at a time that suits you, tailored to show you and your family everything that’s important to you. Arrange your visit here.

3. Register a Place

To start the admissions process, please complete a registration form and submit a non-refundable fee of £165. For children aged 2-4 joining Mill House Pre-School, a registration fee of £50 is required, refundable when they leave.

4. Entrance and Scholarships

Our assessments are designed to help us understand each applicant’s potential and interests. Here’s what you can expect:

  • Prep School (Reception to Year 6): No formal entrance tests are required.
  • Year 7 to 11: Candidates sit for assessments in English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning, and write a handwritten essay. These are age-appropriate and aim to help us understand each child's abilities.
  • Year 12 (Sixth Form): Places are offered based on entrance assessments, school reports, references, and predicted GCSE grades. Scholarship applicants complete additional assessments

Upcoming entrance and scholarship dates:

  • Year 7, 9 and 12: First-round assessments – Saturday 9 November 2024
  • Year 7 and 9 Scholarship & Entrance Assessments: Tuesday 21 & Wednesday 22 January 2025
  • Year 12 Scholarship & Entrance Assessments: Wednesday 26 February 2025

5. Book a Taster Day

A Taster Day at Giggleswick gives your child a wonderful opportunity to experience a day in the life of our school. Pupils can join lessons, meet future classmates, and even spend a night in our boarding facilities if they’re interested in boarding options. Taster Days help children feel more at home, making the transition into Giggleswick smoother and giving them a glimpse of the exciting opportunities here.

6. Accept a Place!

Once an offer is made, an Acceptance Form must be signed by those responsible for school fees. A deposit is also required: £800 for UK day and 3-night flexi boarders, £1500 for 5-night and full boarders, and £5,500 for international students. This deposit is fully refunded when your child leaves Giggleswick.

"We wish we’d moved her sooner! Many of our friends have commented that coming to Gigg has been transformational for her, she is a much happier and more confident child."
