We find ourselves in unprecedented and difficult times. Giggleswick is a close knit community and, in times like these, we need to come together, to support our pupils.
Schoolchildren all over the world have been affected by the coronavirus and most are without any form of educational guidance at all. At Giggleswick, we had the foresight to launch our Virtual School, which is providing much needed structure and continuity of education in these times of uncertainty.
Despite this, however, some pupils and their families find themselves with significantly reduced income, or worse, no income at all and are suffering a dramatic financial impact. Whilst we, as a School, will always support wherever we can, we now turn to you, our community to help support pupils whose families are struggling during these difficult times.
The school has, therefore, established a hardship fund for the benefit of pupils, to support parents who are suffering financial hardship at the present time.
Giggleswick families in need of financial relief
Financial hardship will threaten the continuity of education of some pupils at Giggleswick School. Whilst fees have been reduced significantly for the Summer Term, we have already had calls for temporary assistance from a number of families who have seen their livelihoods vanish almost overnight.
Our aim is to launch this fund to support the families that need financial assistance during these difficult times; to ensure continuity of their children’s education; to be able to provide additional IT equipment where needed; and to ease the financial burden within our community at present.
How can you support our Hardship Fund?
This fund is unlike any we have launched before. Supporting our Giggleswick community at a time when it is needed most. Please contribute whatever you are able. You can donate by Cheque or BACS or online.
Giggleswick in the community
You will have seen Giggleswick reach out to the community over the recent weeks, providing PPE equipment via our design department and providing health and wellbeing advice and tips. The School is making every effort to continue to support using our skills and knowledge to help the wider community.
Our pupils lie at the heart of everything Giggleswick stands for and your contribution could make the world of difference to them during these unprecedented times.
If you are a member of our community and find yourself in need at this time, please do contact the school and we will try and support you in any way we can.
