Senior School Immersion Programme
Our Senior School Immersion Programme is an exciting opportunity for up to eight international students (aged 12 to 14) to join Giggleswick Senior School for five weeks at the end of our Summer Term. The students are immersed in English school life and learning from day one, with plenty of opportunity to practise and improve their spoken and written English throughout their stay.
This is a unique opportunity to experience what it is like to be a Giggleswick pupil and improve your English in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. You are invited to join us for a five week programme which will welcome you safely to our Campus in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales. You will receive a personal welcome and individual programme for the first week and then join the whole School for the last four weeks of term. Our staff will guide you through any necessary quarantine period and advise you on the best year group to join. You will then live in one of our boarding houses with other Giggleswick pupils, join lessons with them and get to take part in a wide range of clubs, activities, trips and visits too.
All Immersion Programme students will join lessons as part of the normal school timetable, working with Giggleswick pupils both in class and during Prep (homework time) during each day. It is a great way to make friends, improve your English and get a new perspective on a subject to support your learning.
In addition to the normal timetable of lessons, each child will have a bespoke programme of intensive English Language lessons each week. Lessons are provided by our own highly experienced teaching staff who have years of experience in teaching English as a foreign language.
The Immersion Programme is not just a study trip but a cultural experience, giving you the opportunity to take part in an extensive range of activities, trips and excursions outside the classroom. In school, students can choose to take part in a wide range of sports, outdoor pursuits, music, drama and art clubs. There is also a programme of trips and excursions each weekend for children to explore the area and further experience British culture.
Students will live in one of our seven boarding houses, which provide a warm and welcoming home away from home for all our pupils with a strong family feel across the whole school. Boarding life is an enriching and rewarding experience, providing pupils with extra time and space to explore the amazing range of activities available at the school, develop independence and grow as an individual.
Students can choose to extend their stay by joining our International Summer School. Flexible stay options are available, allowing children to join us for just one extra week or up to four weeks over the summer holidays.
Please note our Immersion Programme will not be running for 2021/22 due to our Senior School being at full capacity. Dates and fees for 2022/23 to be confirmed.
