Giggleswick School is immensely proud to celebrate the outstanding achievement of our Junior Girls Cross Country team, who competed in the English Schools’ Athletic Association (ESAA) National Finals in Coventry on Saturday 6 December. This remarkable milestone marks the first time Giggleswick has qualified for the finals since 2014.

The team’s journey to the national stage has been inspiring. In Round One at Skipton, the girls delivered a dominant performance, finishing 1st overall and impressively sweeping the top six individual places — a testament to their talent, determination, and teamwork. Round Two in Middlesbrough brought tougher competition, with 17 schools battling for qualification. Rising to the challenge, the team finished 2nd overall, securing their well-deserved place among the best schools in the country.

At the National Finals, the girls represented Giggleswick with tremendous courage and commitment, competing against the strongest young athletes in England. Every runner gave their absolute all: Jo, Martha, Georgia, Megan and Sophie.

Director of Sport, Ed Buck, said: “Having witnessed each stage of their journey, I would like to personally commend the team’s remarkable commitment. To qualify for and compete at the ESAA National Finals is an incredible achievement. Our Junior Girls have shown true team spirit throughout the season, and we are immensely proud of them.”

Their success at the national finals highlights the strength of Giggleswick’s running programme and the tremendous promise of our young athletes. We look forward to seeing all they continue to achieve!
