Our Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils recently enjoyed an exciting and educational trip to Blackpool Zoo, bringing their classroom learning to life through first-hand experiences with animals from around the world.

Visiting the zoo offers our young learners a valuable opportunity to explore the natural world in a way that cannot be replicated in the classroom. As pupils move through the different habitats, they begin to understand how animals live, what they eat, and how their environments help them survive.

For our Reception pupils, the visit supports early learning around animals, habitats, and the wider world, helping children to develop observation skills and build new vocabulary as they describe what they see. Meanwhile, Key Stage 1 pupils deepen their understanding of topics such as animal classification, adaptation, and conservation, linking closely to their science curriculum.
