Scarrig 2026 once again proved why it remains one of the most cherished annual traditions at Giggleswick. Pupils from across the Senior School took to the hills for a day defined by resilience, teamwork and unwavering House spirit. Against the backdrop of classic Yorkshire terrain, every runner demonstrated determination and pride.

The day began with the Minor Ingleborough Race over 3.06km, where the youngest competitors set an impressive standard. Martha ran superbly to win the girls’ category, followed by Sophie and Megan. In the boys’ race, Calum delivered one of the standout performances of the day, breaking the course record ahead of Arthur and Ralph. The House victories went to Style for the girls and Morrison for the boys.

The Junior Pen y Ghent Race, also over 3.06km, produced fast and exciting competition. Poppy claimed the girls’ title, with Charlotte and Celia close behind. In the boys’ race, Archie secured first place, followed by Toby and Tama. Style once again took the girls’ House honours, with Morrison topping the boys’ standings.

Experience and tactical awareness were key in the Senior Pendle Race. Lilly produced an excellent run to take victory in the girls’ event, finishing ahead of Molly and Eleanor. The boys’ race saw Frank claim the win, with Drew and Leo completing the podium.

The Junior Whernside Race, stretching 5.26km, tested stamina and determination. Mia delivered another defining performance, setting a new course record in the girls’ race ahead of Camilla and Hannah. In the boys’ event, Frank secured a confident victory, with Thomas and Bram finishing strongly behind him.

The Senior Whernside Race, the longest and most demanding of the day, provided a fitting finale. Lydia ran a controlled and composed race to secure the girls’ title, followed by Lizzy and Annie. In the boys’ race, Jack produced a dominant performance, also setting a new course record, with Harris and Freddie rounding out the top three.

After all scores were combined, Style were crowned overall Girls’ House Champions, while Morrison claimed the title for the Boys. Every pupil who took part contributed to the spirit of the occasion, and Scarrig 2026 once again showcased the determination, camaraderie and pride that define life at Giggleswick!
