Giggleswick School's annual Speech Day and Prize Giving took place last weekend, bringing together pupils, parents and staff to celebrate another successful year and recognise excellence across academic, sporting and co-curricular life.

This year's event held particular significance as the School marked 50 years of co-education. In September 1976, five girls joined Giggleswick School, making it one of the first independent schools in the North of England to fully embrace co-education. Half a century later, that pioneering decision continues to shape the School's identity, with girls and boys learning, living and thriving together in almost equal numbers.

The day began with a Chapel service, setting a reflective and celebratory tone for the occasion. Throughout the morning, visitors enjoyed a wide range of CASE activities showcasing the breadth of opportunities available at Giggleswick. From live music performances on The Flat and a fast-paced blitz chess competition to a pop-up debate, CCF exercises, climbing and abseiling, pupils demonstrated their enthusiasm, talent and commitment across a diverse range of pursuits.

We were delighted to welcome Old Giggleswickian Sarah Fox as our guest speaker. An internationally acclaimed operatic soprano, Sarah is the recipient of both the Kathleen Ferrier Award and the John Christie Award. Her distinguished career has seen her perform at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne and the Bavarian State Opera, alongside renowned orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic and the San Francisco Symphony.
