Boarding from Year 3 - Giggleswick style

At Giggleswick, boarders don’t just live here, they live life to the full and thrive here. From climbing clubs and film nights to festival celebrations and pancake challenges, every evening is full of energy, fun and community spirit.

Whether it’s revising outside in the sun, sharing passions with a Housemistress, or heading out for a house dinner, pupils shape the rhythm of boarding life and take pride in it. Our Sixth Formers also help lead house events, end-of-year celebrations and charity initiatives.

Catteral House is dedicated to our younger girls and boys, from Years 4 to 8, after which they move into one of five senior boarding houses.  Find out more about our Houses.

Flexible options for modern families

As well as full boarding, we offer weekly and flexi boarding, ideal for families looking for flexibility without compromising on community. Many families from the Harrogate, Ilkley, York, Leeds, Lancashire and Cumbria areas choose to board during the week and return home at weekends, making the most of both worlds.

Parents are part of the picture

We want families to feel part of life here too, from supporting weekend matches to attending performances in the Richard Whiteley Theatre, you’re always welcome. Boarding at Giggleswick is a shared experience, where strong relationships between pupils, staff, and families help build a close-knit, caring community.

Behind the scenes, your child is in safe hands. Housemasters and Housemistresses live in-house and are available 24/7. With an on-site nurse and a proactive pastoral tracking system, we make sure every pupil is supported, seen, and celebrated.

BOARDING FAQ

“For me there really is something very special about the relationships you build in a boarding house. We share each moment of our day together - from making our morning coffee together to late night chats. Giggleswick can be challenging and full on, but it’s our peers in house that build us back up again."
