Three trophies won at Rotary Technology Tournament!

We are delighted to announce that our pupils came 1st in the KS5 category and 2nd in both KS3 and KS4 categories at the 2024 Rotary Club Technology Tournament for the Craven area - Giggleswick was the only school to win a trophy in all three categories. This was as a result of fantastic teamwork and skill levels shown by all of our pupils.

The Tournament is an annual one-day event for KS3/4/5 teams of 4 students from local schools and colleges, who undertake a previously unseen challenge. The challenge is intended to promote careers in engineering, through providing students with the opportunity to develop team building skills, communication skills, planning and time management, as well as solving a design and technology problem.

Other schools attending the event included: Settle College, Ermysted's Grammar, Skipton Girls, Ilkley Grammar, and Prince Henry's Otley.

This year's project brief was to design and build a scale model Space Capsule Launcher to strict specification guidelines.

The day culminated in a timed testing session, where teams could watch their peers present their designs and solutions, followed by an award ceremony when the trophies were presented.

All Giggleswick design teams produced impressive, diverse ideas and solutions, which clearly demonstrated their skilled, creative and resilient approach to problem solving and teamwork.
