Giggleswickians celebrate at Westminster
Thursday 12 Apr 2018
The whole community of Giggleswickians, including OGs, parents, staff and friends of the school, enjoyed a very special evening in the splendour of the House of Commons at this year’s annual London Dinner.
The Palace of Westminster is one of the world’s most iconic buildings and our guests were treated to a personal tour of the House of Commons by Nigel Evans MP, followed by drinks on the famous Terrace Balcony overlooking the Thames and dinner in the Churchill Room.
Sam Wood (2013) gave the Loyal Toast, Anthony Briggs (OG Club President 2017-8) proposed the Toast to the School and Headmaster, Mark Turnbull, gave the toast to the OG Club.
The theme of the evening was ‘Change’ and our host, Nigel Evans MP, gave a fascinating guest speech highlighting the changes that have taken place in the House of Commons over the last 25 years.
Anthony Briggs and the headmaster, Mark Turnbull, continued the theme as they spoke about new developments at the school, the importance of the Giggleswickian community and celebrating the amazing range of talent among the school’s current pupils.
Anthony Briggs said: “It was a real honour and pleasure to bring everyone together in such a wonderful environment with plenty of entertaining conversation throughout the evening. There is much to celebrate across the school and such great warmth among all Giggleswickians. We must all keep in touch and keep supporting this wonderful school.”
