Performing Arts Festival 2018
Friday 23 Mar 2018
Our Junior School Performing Arts Festival provides pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 with the opportunity to showcase their talents in music, dance, speech and drama. The chance to perform in the wonderful setting of the Richard Whiteley Theatre is an exciting one for our pupils and they clearly relished the occasion this year. As well as the group renditions, there were prizes for individual musical and speech and drama performances, awarded by our judge, David Shirt. The audience were also treated to a strings performance by Year 1 and Year 2 as well as two ballet pieces.
Head of Junior School Music, Josie Wells, said “We enjoyed every single performance and it was lovely to see so many confident, proficient young musicians, dancers and actors. It just goes to show that practice really does pay off. A special mention to our trophy winners - Phoebe Cook, Martha Lloyd and Robyn McChesney for Drama, Martha Jones and Annabelle Taylor for Music and Martha Lloyd for the All Rounder Special Effort award.
Junior School Headmaster, James Mundell, said “I was incredibly proud of all the children who took part, and I am sure parents and the children felt the same. All the children performed with such confidence and composure, and to do so in a large theatre is certainly not to be underestimated. If they can already do this at such a young age, it really bodes well for the future.”
