Opportunities to participate

All pupils up to Year 11 follow a structured PE programme, in addition to games afternoons. Sixth form pupils have games afternoons throughout the year with the opportunity to play a range of sports.

We offer a full fixture list for all priority sports, entering various competitions at both regional and national levels, alongside regular sports tours.

Each year several pupils are selected to represent the district and county in a variety of sports.

Pupils are also encouraged to follow courses in coaching, umpiring/refereeing and related sports awards.

A range of sports clubs and skills clinics are also offered to give pupils of all ages access to new sports. Click here to see our clubs and skills clinics.

Sports scholarships & The Elite Sports Programme

A number of parents choose Giggleswick when their child begins to show real promise in a sport - the extended day and boarding ethos enables pupils to dedicate the time required to excel in a sport whilst keeping up with their academic studies.

From Year 10, pupils can apply for a place on our Elite Sports Programme, which includes the creation of a tailored training programme, specialist coaching, mentoring, and performance tracking with professional sports visits and strength and conditioning workshops. Many of the programme’s features have also been incorporated into the Lower School Sports Scholarship Programme specifically designed for pupils in Years 7 to 9.

Sports scholarships are awarded to candidates who demonstrate excellent potential across at least two sports.
