A message from the Chair of Governors, Alex Thursby
Sophie Clayton

"As we prepare to start an exciting summer term, it is with a heavy heart that I must inform you that Mark Turnbull will be leaving Giggleswick at the end of the autumn term December 2021. Mark has been appointed to be Headmaster of Kent College in Canterbury and will be taking up his new post at the start of January 2022.

Mark will depart from Giggleswick leaving the School in a strong position thanks to his vision and firm leadership. During Mark’s six and a half years here, he has made some transformative changes to the way the School operates while still retaining the traditions and history of Giggleswick. With a growing pupil roll and a sound financial base, the School can look forward to the future with great confidence.

It will be difficult to let Mark go, but to have the opportunity to take the experience he has gained here to a different school, in a different part of the country, is undoubtedly an exciting prospect for him. I am sure you will all join me in wishing Mark and Ruth every success in their future."

Mark writes: ‘It has not been an easy decision to leave Giggleswick, and I know we will miss the school greatly, however, I am confident that the school is in a strong position and I look forward to seeing my successor take it on to even greater things’.

"I personally will miss Mark, but I am confident that the School will continue to thrive and go from strength to strength. The quality of results, investment in learning and boarding, and excellent education, all remain key hallmarks of Giggleswick."
