Catteral Shield cross country championships

Director of Sport, Ed Buck, said “The Catteral Shield is a long-standing cross country event in Giggleswick School’s sporting calendar and we wanted to adapt it this year to encourage our pupils, and children in other schools, to maintain their levels of physical activity in the current lockdown.

Our hope was this virtual event would help to improve the wellbeing of those who took part, and we were delighted so many schools in the local, and wider vicinity (as far away as London and Edinburgh), participated.

A big thank you to all the members of staff who helped coordinate the event and the families that ran or cycled in support of those running.”

To encourage participation throughout the whole school community, 37 members of staff also entered the new ‘teacher’ category this year. The results were as follows:

2nd Place M. Spooner Hunter Hall
