Sophie Clayton

A huge congratulations to all 7 houses that took part in a particularly challenging year of the Inter-House Singing and Speaking Competition, and for delivering a superb evening of entertainment. The theme this year was ‘Countries of the G7’, with the themes allocated as follows:

  • Catteral – Canada
  • Carr - Italy
  • Morrison – United States
  • Nowell - France
  • Paley - United Kingdom

Students were given one week to rehearse their whole house spoken and small group singing pieces, with all houses continuing to adhere to year group bubbles and social distancing. Judges, Vicki Offland (OG), and Chief Examiner for A level Drama and Theatre, Jacqueline Porteous, commented on how wonderful it was to be involved in the event, and how impressed they were with the high standard of work produced regardless of the challenging conditions.

Performance were recorded in the Richard Whiteley Theatre, with a link available for students, parents and their families to watch the event and vote for their favourite house performance.

The winners were as follows:

  • Overall Winning House - Carr
  • Small Group Singing - Style
  • Whole House Speaking – Paley
  • Audience Prize - Carr
