Introducing myself:

I qualified as a Management Accountant (CIMA) in the early 90’s and have since worked for several SME’s initially in the Drinks Industry with H&A Bottlers and MDA Ltd and more recently in the Wallcoverings sector. My current role is Finance Director of The Surface Print Company, a family owed company specializing in the manufacture of high end wallcoverings.

I am married to Sharon who is a qualified teacher but now works part time as a speech therapist. We have 2 sons, Ben our eldest works in the commercial division of Majestic Wine (very handy!) and James works for the Pig division of Genus who improve genetics in the farming industry (not so handy).

From a recreational point of view, I played Rugby Union for Blackburn RUFC for 20 years and Cricket for East Lancs CC in the Lancashire League. I still play a little cricket nowadays mainly running the Northern arm of The Cryptics who until 2010 had a long standing fixture with School.

I ran the London Marathon in 2001 and 2005, but now am happy to plod around a few 5K Park runs. 4 years ago I was introduced to Crossfit, and following 6 months of agony, I now start every day with a 1 hour cross-fit session at 6am working on the basis that anything else that happens during the day, won’t be as bad.

Recently, I have joined Wilpshire Golf Club to embark on another sporting journey which will no doubt result in joy and misery in equal measure.

What is my role and contribution to the OGC:

As President Elect in 2020/21, I have been acting as a liaison between the school and OG volunteers to compile database information for all sporting activities at Giggleswick from 1995 – 2020. My goal will be to actively support all aspects of the modernization project, with particular involvement in the mentoring project and utilization of the database. Throughout the year, I hope to meet many OGs at various functions that will hopefully go ahead in the future post Covid world.
