Year 3 create rubbish dump poetry display
Ben Harris

Children in Year 3 have been considering the feelings of the lead character 'Edward' in their class book, 'The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane' by Kate DiCamillo. When Edward was abruptly discarded on a rubbish dump the class considered how it might feel to be there - the sounds, smells and feelings on their skin; how it would have felt to be buried like this. The children collected words, phrases, sentences, similes and metaphors around each sense and then turned their ideas into their own sense poems.

Today they scribed their poems on recycled materials and then created a rubbish dump poetry display in the school library.
