A levels & BTECs
We offer both A level and BTEC course options at Giggleswick, alongside an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ) and our Super-curriculum (academic enrichment).
A levels provide the core academic input for our sixth formers. We offer a wide range of subjects taught by specialists in small groups. Students usually take three A levels alongside our academic enrichment programme.
BTEC courses tend to suit students who prefer a more guided learning experience and ongoing assessment throughout the course. For students considering going on to university they will normally be advised to take a suitable A level alongside their BTEC.
“The teachers at Giggleswick have encouraged and supported me every step of the way. All the activities here mean I have been able to stretch my knowledge, from maths lectures and astronomy club to Italian speaking. Coming here I have realised my potential and I've achieved so much more than I expected.”
Sophie (Year 13)
We encourage all our A level students to take an EPQ (Extended Project Qualification). An EPQ is an independent project that is completed by the student and allows them to research an area of interest away from their A level studies. This can be an area of personal or academic interest and may help them to research an area related to a future career.
